Travel Wee Time!

As you know by now, I am quite captivated with Larissa Holland's designs over at mmmcrafts, so when she came out with the Travel Wee creature I couldn't help but make a couple!

For the first time on my blog, here is the Travel Wee!  These have been in the works for awhile.  I got the pattern over a month ago, and finally they are for sale in my etsy shop.  I had to wait 3 weeks for the safety eyes to come in the mail then I went on holidays!  While I was on my own travels I was able to make 4 of these furry friends.   Here are 3 of them....

More Books

Last night I had some fun putting together a couple of books. I found a great tutorial that makes it very easy!  I used some sketchbook paper, some graph paper, and some printer paper that looks like scrupled up paper! These would make the perfect gift.  You should try bookbinding this summer!

Softest Cactus Around

If you read other crafty blogs, you may have noticed a book called Little Big Felt Universe pop up in other peoples posts. For good reason I see now. I've only made one project from it so far, but I really love her cute designs. They are really well structured patterns. The instructions however have some gaps in them which leave you figuring some things out yourself.

the scalloped pot edges are not in the pattern, I got
the idea from another blogger, it adds SO much
to the original design.

Cursive Notebook

I don't know if it's just me, but I really like the "oldschool" cursive writing paper.  It's kind of fun writing extra big in between the solid and the dashed lines.  I found a couple of half used cursive exercise books at a thrift store and made a notebook from them for a friends birthday gift.

lovely solid and dashed lines

pre-loved exercise books

cutting the paper to desired size

making a fabric cover

this is only my second or third bookbinding project....
I hope to get better each time!
(next binding project is a graph paper notebook!)

love this hula girl fabric!

Frogs Birthday

Have you ever read the books Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel?  My husband and I both love those books.  So for his birthday I decided to make him a frog sculpture out of wool felt!  He has pipe cleaners inside the felt so his limbs can be moved this way and that.  I made a suit jacket for him out of linen, and pants out of wool and linen blend.  And of course a birthday cake was needed to celebrate!

Here is a picture from one of the books with a much greener frog,
