Little Skirts

Spring is in the air!  And to celebrate, here are some little girl skirts that I recently made. (even though I made them during a March snowfall)

I used 2 different tutorials from MADE to make these skirts.  She has awesome patterns and tutorials!

For this blue skirt I block printed ladybugs on plain quilting cotton (for my girl who adores ladybugs!) using this method.

And this double layered is made from cotton too.

"Crafting!"

There's nothing more heart warming to a crafty mama than hearing her daughter yell to her daddy when asked what she is doing..."CRAFTING!!"

We made a small craft together that she was very excited about, making her own bug planter.  She likes plants and bugs so this was a great combo.  We used this tutorial.  Ours isn't as cute as the original, but its still cuteish for a first time real craft.

Honestly, if I think about it this a tacky craft, but much better than a toilet paper roll craft.

We have had a rough last few months of winter with ongoing cold after fever after other unknown sicknesses.  So crafting again is a good sign!

New Designs for this New Year

I've been enjoying a little down time this January.  Christmas was a blast, but it took a while to recover from all the sewing projects.  And now we are almost through January! In the past it has been my most productive month creatively speaking, but not this year.

I have however been working on new doll designs.  I've been trying to do something different for doll hair so tried faux fur, I love how it looks on my dolls I also like to try something new in my etsy shop every year, so we'll see how these go.  They look like wild little elves!

The Year in Review: How to feel Successful

If you want to feel successful, write a list.  Write a list of all the things you have done.   I took a page from my friends book who wrote a list of all the books she had read this year.  Day to day I feel like I don't get anything done, but looking back at 2013, I've done/made a lot!  I've never done a "look back at the past year" but it might be a new thing for me, as it feels really good to see all my creations in one place!
